In the spring of this year, a TEDOM Cento 500 CHP unit was put into operation in Zwickau, Germany.
TEDOM Cento 500 in the Zwickau District Heating Plant

The CHP unit became a part of the existing biomass district heating plant which was simultaneously completed with a photovoltaic system and Power-to-Gas technology. Connection of all of these technologies was designed and installed by Envia Therm. The CHP unit is predominantly used to cover the consumption of the biomass heating plant and the surplus power, if any, is not supplied to the grid but, instead, is used to supply the Power-to-Gas technology.

The district heating plant covers 40 % of the heating needs of Zwickau. It generates 80 million kWh of heat and 35 million kWh of power a year, saving 2000 tons of CO2.
